Turkiye Petrol Rafinerileri Anonim Sirketi (TUPRAS)
Description: Tüpraş is Turkey’s largest industrial enterprise, with 28.1 mn ton crude processing capacity. Tüpraş has four refineries operating in four different cities with 4700 employees. A majority stake (79.98%) in shipping company DİTAŞ and 40% share ownership of petrol retailer Opet, creates synergies and adds value to the operations. Tupras controls all of Turkey’s refining capacity. Tüpraş owns 59% of the total petroleum products storage capacity in Turkey, composing of 1.7 million tons of crude oil, 1.3 million tons of white product and 0.9 million tons of black product. Tüpraş is a certified R&D center which is given in line with Turkish Law “Supporting Research and Development Activities.
Main tasks in FUDIPO: Tüpraş will participate in development of models for their own processes and participate in the implementation and evaluation of advanced functions.
Personnel involved:
- Merve Aygün Esastürk: She studied chemical engineering at the University of Bogazici, Turkey, and has a master degree on Fuel and Energy Technologies. After working at Production and Process Control Departments in TUPRAS, now she is the team leader of modelling and control division in Research and Development Department since February 2016. She is responsible from development and application of projects regarding modelling and control subjects.
- Mehmet Yağcı: He studied Chemical Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He also holds MSc. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Koc University Turkey. He is currently working as Modelling and Control R&D Chief and working on process control and modelling applications. His main research interests are performance monitoring and root cause analysis of control loops, digital signal processing, steady-state and dynamic process modelling. He is also currently pursuing PhD in Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in Koc University Turkey.
- Gizem Kuşoğlu: He has a degree in chemical engineering and also industrial engineering, both from ITU(İstanbul, Turkey). Her MSc degree is related with controller performance monitoring tool. She continues her education career by pursuing PhD in chemical engineering department at Koç University. Gizem is working as chief engineer at R&D center, Turkish Petroleum Refinery for 4 years. She takes an active role in modeling and control projects. In the FUDIPO project, she will support the project technically on the behalf of TUPRAS.
