Heat and power plants (Mälarenergi, MTT)

Approach

In these plants attention is mainly paid to heating value, moisture and ash-content (especially alkali salts). A demonstration will be made with an on-line physical model simulator for the boiler to analyse performance and do diagnostics and decision support. The focus is first on stabilizing the temperature in the boiler and steam system (or turbine entry). Logistics will be also included for purchase of the waste fuel in other countries, transportation to the CHP site, waste fuel sorting in a sorting station, etc.

  • Reduce pollutant emissions (e.g. dioxins).
  • Enable the possibility of using cheap fuels with reduced environmental impact.
  • Reduce down-time and improve system efficiency.
